On February 21st, Columbus Scholars were given a lecture and workshop on writing well by Dawn Grantham, principal of Richards Middle School.
Thoughts from a Scholar:
Today’s enrichment session focused on a key element that will benefit all students in all grade levels, writing. Writing is one of the most important skills to have as a successful student. Today at our enrichment session with the help of Richards Middle School’s principal Mrs. Dawn Grantham, the scholars learned new techniques to help them write.
Mrs. Grantham introduced the scholars to a new writing technique, using their choice of shoes for the day as a topic. She had the students explain why they wore the shoes, features of the show, and the advantages of wearing them. The scholars then used the information that they gathered to create an introductory paragraph.
